Face Coverings

Face coverings are required for:

• At least 10 days if you have tested positive for COVID-19.

The following guidelines apply where face coverings are required:

• A face covering does not include a scarf, ski mask, balaclava, bandana, turtleneck, collar, or single layer of fabric.
• Face coverings must completely cover the nose and mouth, with no large gaps on the outside of the face.
• Face coverings must be secured with ties, ear loops, or elastic bands that go behind the head.
• Face coverings must have no slits, visible holes, punctures, or outlet valves.
• If gaiters are worn, they must have two layers of fabric or be folded to make two layers.

While face coverings are no longer required, you are encouraged to use them to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Free surgical masks are available throughout campus in mask dispensers, mainly located by first or second floor elevators or in entryways where elevators are not present.

Employee Policy

When in areas of campus that require face coverings, CSUDH employees are required to wear a well-fitting medical grade mask: surgical mask, KN95, or N95. This is in accordance with the L.A. County Department of Public Health’s requirements for employees [PDF].

These medical grade masks can be acquired from the locations listed below or employees can bring their own supply with them to campus. Cloth face masks will not be allowed in areas where face coverings are required.

KN95 masks are individually packaged and will be distributed without the need to sign for or receive a training document. Both KN95s and surgical masks will be given out in increments of five to ten masks at a time. If departments/colleges would like a supply at their location to distribute as needed, the department manager/administrator can request up to two boxes at the distribution locations below. Larger orders need to go through the campus warehouse.
 
Since N95 masks are considered respirators, these will not be distributed by the warehouse. N95s need to be picked up by the individual who intends to use them so they can sign for them and receive a training document.

KN95 and N95 masks are available to employees (including student workers) in the following locations from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday to Friday, in the following locations:

• Physical Plant
• Residence Hall Commons
• Student Health Center
• Toro Welcome Center

KN95 and N95 masks are also available at the University Police Department seven days a week, and after regular business hours.
